About Kittredge Insurance
The Barry J. Kittredge Insurance Agency was established in 1987 by Barry and Andrea Kittredge. The first office opened in the Landmark Building on Merrimack Street. Barry and Andrea are life long residents of Haverhill operating the family owned business in Bradford Square since the purchase of the property in 1994.
We are an insurance family. Our children, two of whom work out of state have a combined 20 years in the insurance industry at the company level. Andrea’s mother worked in a local insurance agency in her twenties where she met her husband and after bringing up her family, she returned to the insurance business and worked in a local insurance agency until she retired.
Education is very important to us. We were the founder’s of Mr. K’s Auto School which we operated until the mid 1980’s. Barry recently retired from the Haverhill School System with 37 years of educational experience. We understand that purchasing insurance can be very confusing to our clients. One of our goals has always been to educate our clients so that each client understands their coverage choices. In insurance, no question is a foolish question and we enjoy taking the time to explain insurance issues that at first may be confusing or complicated. We aim to have our clients feel comfortable about the time and money they spend on their insurance.

We have established relationships with Commerce Insurance, Merchants Insurance Group, Bristol West, and Foremost Insurance Company. We offer coverage for autos, homes and businesses in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Currently, auto insurance, is undergoing change with the introduction of Managed Competition in Massachusetts. We have been particularly pleased that our auto carrier, Commerce Insurance, the leading provider of auto and homeowners in Massachusetts, offers very competitive rating packages, especially for AAA members, who receive preferred pricing and enhanced coverage. Also, along with generous discounts, new applicants are eligible to receive and additional 6% Shop Smart discount just for switching their auto insurance to Commerce at least 7 days prior to the effective date.
Merchants, is a company dedicated to its agents in the northeastern United States. With 90 plus years in business, Merchants has a strong presence in this area with their emphasis on insurance programs for small to medium size business. Their strengths include Artisan Contractors, Retail Stores and Offices such as Doctors, Lawyers, Massage Therapists and Veterinary Hospitals. In addition to the property and liability coverages, Merchants is also a strong market for Commercial Automobile and Worker’s Compensation.
